Client: Arval Belgium
Context: 2008 - present
More than 5,300 tons of CO2 have already been offset between 2008 and 2019. After having supported a first project in Malawi, then in Tanzania between 2008 and 2012, Arval supported from 2013 to mid-2018 the Gold Standard project in Uganda called <<Saving Trees>>. This project facilitates widespread access to more efficient improved stove technologies across the country by creating small businesses with local artisans. Thanks to this support, a total of just over 2,640 Ugandan families have seen their living conditions improve while reducing their consumption of wood or charcoal. Since mid-2018, Arval has opted for a new Gold Standard project in Eritrea <<Safe Water Supply>> whose objective is the rehabilitation of wells in order to provide the local population with drinking water. Thanks to this support, a total of 520 people now have access to drinking water every day, without having to burn wood to purify the water.
Arval's involvement in these projects helps to reduce CO2 emissions, support sustainable development, stimulate socio-economic development in these developing countries, and the benefit is global!
