For the few people that don’t know Lord Nicholas Stern, he is the lead author of the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change and former Chief Economist of the World Bank. He accepted very kindly to write the foreword of Arnaud’s (Managing Partner of CO2logic) book about the carbon markets. This book is probably the most comprehensive and accessible guide to understanding the environmental and financial opportunities offered by regulated and voluntary carbon markets for tackling climate change.
How does carbon trading affect current greenhouse gas emissions trends? Is a carbon market efficient? How do they work? What is the accounting treatment of emission rights? How can organizations and businesses successfully develop a carbon neutral strategy? Answers to these questions and many more can be found in this comprehensive, highly readable introduction to global carbon markets. Combining theoretical aspects with practical applications, this book is for business leaders, financiers, carbon traders, lawyers, bankers, researchers, policy makers and anyone interested in market-mechanisms to mitigate climate change. Published by Earthscan (London) the book should be released at the Carbon Expo Fair in Barcelona in May 2009. CO2logic’s partners and consultants have an in-depth and practical knowledge in carbon finance, carbon accounting and carbon reductions projects. They offer a complete range of services, from carbon audits (EU ETS monitoring guidelines, GHG Protocol, Bilan Carbone and PAS 2050) to carbon reductions and offsetting strategies for companies involved in the EU ETS or simply willing to do their bit for the environment (voluntary reduction and carbon neutrality targets). About the authors Arnaud Brohé is a Managing Partner at CO2logic, a leading carbon advisory and carbon offsetting firm based in Brussels, and has just completed a year's visiting scholarship on the Lower Carbon Futures Team at Oxford University. Previously he worked as an energy and carbon advisor for a consulting firm. Nick Eyre is leader of the Lower Carbon Futures team at the Environmental Change Institute, Oxford University. Nicholas Howarth was economic advisor to the Australian Environment Minister for three years and is now a specialist on carbon markets and energy investment, based at the Oxford University Centre for the Environment. source: Arnaud Brohé and Earthscan http://www.earthscan.co.uk/?tabid=57004
