For the expedition ‘In the wake of the Belgica’ which was just successfully completed and which will be used as a tool to inform and educate thousands of people, Dixie Dansercoer decided to act as a role model by offsetting the CO2 emissions from his air travel.
The expedition ‘In the wake of Belgica’ has just finished, but the educational aspect has just begun. This expedition was the perfect occasion to compare the state of the Antarctic from when it was explored by Lieutenant Adrien de the Gerlache (in 1897) and its today. This expedition was used to assemble ecological and weather data as well as to observe and measure the changes caused due to global warming. This adventure was also the occasion to discover precedently unexplored peaks and summit.
This expedition will used to increase public knowledge on global warming through different seminars and individual presentations. To carry out this expedition it was very difficult for Dixie Dansercoer not to take a flight thus offsetting the emissions due to this flight was considered the next best option. For this expedition, he had to travel by Ushuaïa (Argentina). The expedition began from Ushuaïa where it crossed over to Antarctica. Dixie Dansercoer’s CO2 emissions have been offset by CO2logic.
