 It was the employees themselves who came forward with the idea of doing something for the environment. For the closing of their fiscal year they decided that instead of organizing a classic event for their “teambuilding” weekend they would organize it around the sustainable development theme. This event involved 300 consultants traveling to meet at the small village to Nieuwvliet near Knokke.
Their first objective was to get there with the least cars possible by encouraging public transport and carpooling and thus avoiding three tonnes of CO2. “All the car journeys that still occur after this will have their CO2 emissions offset through the use of CDM Kyoto credits” explains Thibault d’Ursel who is at the center of this project with his colleague Koen De Staercke. They chose to work with CO2logic for the offsetting of these emissions.
